The Crooked Billet
On 23rd April 2022 Wally and Julie proudly celebrated 30 years at the Crooked Billet! A Big thank you to all our loyal, hardworking staff for sticking with us. We couldn’t do it without you! ‘
‘A huge thank you too to our regulars and supporters for your continuing custom and friendship’
We pride ourselves on being a true ‘Free-house’ offering all you would expect from a traditional British village pub
We (Wally and Julie) have owned this land-mark Hertfordshire Freehouse for over 30 years.
During our time we have successfully established The Crooked Billet as a friendly and traditional village pub; offering all the things you would expect from your ‘local’.
Wally is very proud of his recognition for a well kept cellar with a consistent entry in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the past 25+ years; offering real ales from local breweries for example Tring’s Side-pocket-for-a-Toad as well as nationally renowned beers.
He is also very proud to host three successful darts teams in local leagues.
In recent years our kitchen team have gone from strength to strength offering tried and tested menu options; including homemade pies and Chef’s specials of the day and have helped to establish us a destination pub, particularly for many walking and cycling groups.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Our butcher Richard Morris ensures that we only serve the best, accredited Aberdeen Angus beef as well gammon ham and traditionally reared pork from Great Garnetts farm in Dunmow

The large pub garden overlooks open farmland, which offers our customers peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle (..and only a mile from the M25!)
